Welcome To Moda Fabrics!
And it's almost ready...
And it's almost ready...
Thursday is a busy day - finishing the booth, Schoolhouse and Sample Spree... so instead of lots of text, how about lots of pictures.
Pretty picture - the booth is just about finished, only a few last minute things remain to be added. I'd say 97% finished. This was taken after I'd left Sample Spree - we were just about cleaned out at the Moda tables - at about 9:15 pm or so.
If you're not familiar, Schoolhouse is where companies and individuals can apply for the opportunity to do a 15- or 30-minute presentation about their product, book, fabric, patterns, etc. It's designed to be very educational and it usually is. Some are very entertaining... others need to turn down the microphone so as not to drown out - and disrupt - the presentation next door. (Ask me how I know this?)
A very sneaky picture - they're watching Lissa, waiting for her to start, not seeing that I'm taking a picture.
Moda had several Schoolhouse presentations, including three in a row: the Frivols, Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree Quilts, and then the Moda Designer Schoolhouse.
Miss Fig - she's a very good speaker.
This is what the Moda Sample Spree tables look like before the doors open.
Getting ready... organizing... the calm before the crazy.
Now it's a little crazy. There will be a video later this week.
As for the booths, by the time I left Sample Spree, the Moda booth is finished and the Designer booths are also "mostly done". With everything they have to do and coming in at different times, some will still get a few finishing touches first thing Friday morning before Spring International Quilt Market 2015 officially opens. (That's always how it is announced at 9:30 am the first morning.)
Lynne Hagemeir - Kansas Troubles. Lynne's new collection - Sunflower Song - and quilts are beautiful. That little pillow down in the corner, if it goes missing, it wasn't me. It was there when I left...
Jan Patek and Hawthorne Ridge.
Janet Clare and her gorgeous new collection, Nocturne. The mix of colors is subtle, elegant and spectacular, and I love the quilts she designed for it.
Me & My Sister Designs - the quilt in the lower right is the booth next door, I'll have that finished booth tomorrow.
Barb - Barbara Groves is here by herself this time, Mary is missing the fun this time (Hi Mary!). The sisters kind of have two collections they're showing, Hi-De-Ho and Dot! Dot! Dash. Hi-De-Ho will be out in July and Dot! Dot! Dash. will be in stores in October.
Brenda Riddle and Windermere - it's beautiful and there are linens! Brenda's collection will be part of the Frivols, the collection will be available in October. Or November... one of those. (Link coming soon.)
Tucker Prairie by 1Canoe2 - this is the debut collection by one of the new Moda designers. You might know of Beth and Carrie from their amazing artwork, calendars, notecards and paper goodies that "some of us" seem to collect and not be able to actually use.
Bright Sun by Sherri & Chelsi of A Quilting Life. A new mother-daughter design team, Sherri McConnell and her daughter, Chelsi Stratton.
Purebred by Erin Michael. That's Wilbur on the floor. It isn't a rug, it's a quilt and it has plexiglass laid over it. Using Erin's painting and fabric design, Holly created the much larger horse image in Bella Solids. It was so terrific - and much coveted - that a digital image was printed. So Wilbur is going to be a quilt kit that comes with the fabrics for the backgrounds and the patches, and a 60" x 60" printed panel that can be fused-stitched onto the background. The panel will also include some smaller images that can be used for a pillow, tote-bag or on the back of the quilt. (I LOVE this quilt.)
Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic also has two collections at Quilt Market... okay, three. Modern Backgrounds - Paper and Ink - and For You. As always, Brigitte's quilts are spectacular.
Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs' Kindred Spirits. As always, Anne has a beautiful Block of the Month quilt with applique, embroidery and piecing.
Vanessa Goertzen of Lellaboutique and her new collection, Gooseberry.
Mon Ami by Basic Grey. That little bag next to the Layer Cake - the bottom of it is recycled jeans, the lining is one of the cutest prints in the collection. If this little bag goes missing - or any of those on the shelf next to it - it wasn't me. Scout's honor!
Prairie by Corey Yoder - another debut collection by a new designer for Moda Fabrics. You might know her by her blog, Little Miss Shabby, Corey has a new pattern company, Coriander Quilts.
More later... but you knew that, right?
I have more pictures to take!
And I need to shower first.
