Make & Take - Scandi Stars
Make & Take - Scandi Stars
Scandinavian Stars have been around for many years, and they've been made with every color and style of fabric. Batik? You bet!
These Scandi Stars can be used as Christmas tree ornaments and gift tie-ons. Tie them onto a pine bough or a string for a simple garland.
These stars measure approx. 3" from tip to tip.
The collections? From upper-left: White Christmas by Zen Chic - Christmas Figs by Fig Tree & Co. - Chill by Zen Chic - Naughty & Nice by BasicGrey.
This is the list of supplies I used:
- 4 strips of fabric - 3" x 14".
- an iron to press the strips
- Wonder clips or other regular-sized binding clips
- a hemostat or tweezers. A few folks like a bodkin but the hemostat worked best for me.
- very sharp scissors that cut at the tip - small is better - I like these 5" embroidery scissors by Elan
- Baste-it Glue - optional but recommended.
- Perle cotton or embroidery floss to add a tie-on or loop - optional.
If you'd like bigger stars, you'll just need wider strips. And longer.
The strips for these stars were cut at 3", 4" and 5". The widest strips were cut 5" x 21", but 16" will be long enough.
We first shared how to make these a few years ago - Scandi Stars.
That post was made into a PDF tutorial - Scandi Stars Tutorial.
After looking at these again, I'm off to dig through scraps. I need to make a few more stars.
Because it's December and the holidays are coming.
Stay well.
